The province of Jaén is consolidated as a referent for the organization of first-level sports events

As the President of the Diputación Provincial de Jaén (Provincial government), I want to give a warm welcome to Jaén to the people from all around the world who are taking part in the first event of the Trial World Championship in Mancha Real. It will be a milestone in Jaén’s sports history, as this will be the first time a high-level motorcycling event comes to this land, which means an occasion to be proud of for all the people of Jaén.

The organization of first-class sports events such as this Trial World Championship competition is one of the aims comprised in ActivaJaén, an initiative through which the Spanish Government, the Junta de Andalucía (Andalusian regional government) and Diputación Provincial de Jaén, together with private partners, want to give a new boost to Jaén’s development and, therefore, to the sports initiatives arising in our land.

It is planned a total investment of more than 18 million Euro within the programme ActivaJaén, through which it is intended to improve the sports facilities in the province and to set Jaén into an important situation when it comes to hosting relevant and different sports events.

It is a great pleasure for Jaén’s inhabitants to welcome these sportsmen coming from so far-away countries such as Korea, Japan or Finland who will take part in this event of international renown. In fact, this event will be broadcast through TV in more than 170 countries around the world, which means an excellent showcase for the historical, cultural and natural sights, and also for the Mancha Real’s cuisine and the whole territory of Jaén. Besides, this sports event implies a close contact with nature, a feature that will allow the thousands of trial fans travelling to Jaén to get to know one of the greatest treasures in our province: our environment. Having the greatest area of protected natural parks in Spain, Jaén becomes the ideal place to go sightseeing, have a break and, of course, practise different sports in the healthiest environment.

Within the sports field and the programme ActivaJaén, we have put ourselves to work and invest in order to create increasing possibilities for Jaén to host first-class sports events.Following this line and, after some serious work, we have achieved the organization of first-level events for the province such as the European Archery Championship, the Under 16 European Basketball Championship, the 1st Latin American Triathlon Championship or this event from the Trial World Championship. We are sure that many more events will follow in the near future.
