GREETING FROM THE PROVINCIAL DIRECTOR OF SPORTS, TRADE AND TOURISM FOR THE ANDALUSIAN GOVERNMENT

The Provincial Sports, Trade and Tourism Department is glad to welcome all the riders who will take part in the first event of the Trial World Championship 2007 calendar, taking place next 1st April in Mancha Real (Jaén).

This is the first time Jaén hosts an event counting towards such a high-level World Championship, in this case, a trial competition. This success is undoubtedly the outcome of the previous excellent work carried out during the organization of the Spanish Trial Championship for several years. This is the reason why the International Motorcycling Federation has established Mancha Real as an international referent within the trial world.

This sports event has been called Gran Premio de España ActivaJaén de Trial 2007 (Spanish Grand Prix “ActivaJaén 2007” of Trial) since it is included within the development programme “ActivaJaén”, fostered by the Central Government, the Junta de Andalucía (Andalusian regional government) and the Diputación Provincial (Jaén’s provincial government). This programme, consisting of 98 development measures for Jaén, passed by the Spanish National Cabinet, pursuits to foster and promote sports activities in general through two action lines: on one hand, establishing Jaén as an international referent for the organization of high-level sports events and, on the other hand, achieving a significant and quality growth of sports facilities by means of the building and refurbishment of the necessary facilities.

Another point to take into account for this World Championship is the expected great attendance of Spanish and foreign trial fans from all over the world. The extensive coverage of the event, which is to be broadcast to more than 170 countries, will also correspond to the presence of the major trial riders in Jaén during that weekend.

From this Provincial Sports, Trade and Tourism Department, we would like to wish the greatest success to all the riders taking part in the competition. We also expect, as in previous occasions, the public and organization to be spectacular but, above all, a great sporting event.
